Classic Italian countryside holidays in the heart of Abruzzo

What we absolutely love about the house that we within 30 min drive away there are lots of beaches for all tastes - white perfectly round pebbles, golden sand, busy beaches and private beaches. The only thing that they have in common is that they are all very clean and you will have a lot of space to yourself!

Abruzzo’s 129 km long sandy coastline (interrupted in places by pebble beaches) is home to many popular beach resorts. Beaches worth visiting are in Fossacesia and Vasto Marina, on Abruzzo’s southern coast; Silvi Marina, Francavilla al Mare and Pineto, further north; finally, traveling north, shortly before Le Marche, Alba Adriatica and Martinsicuro close the list of seaside resorts which are considered among the best in Italy. Beaches of Abruzzo are pristine and the waters of the Adriatic are warm.

Our favorite (and nearest) beach is no doubt Fossacesia Marina. It is just 25 minutes away from Bomba down the straight road and has excellent facilities. It has been awarded Bandiera Blu (Blue Flag) and water is crystal clear and of wonderful turquoise colour. The beach stretches for miles and there are plenty of parking. Fossacesia is pebble beach and is hardly ever busy. The scenery is fantastic - you will see old Abbey on the hill above you, there is trabocco on the beach and lots of cafes and restaurants offering pizza by slice, lovely coffees, ice-crams and proper meals.

Another good pebbly beach can be found in San Vito Marina (SS16 heading North, about 10 minutes away from SS652 junction), just down the coastal road. The best beach for children would be Le Morgue, which you can find on the way South just off SS16. The beach is fine sand, very shallow and full of things to do from having a gelato to hiring pedalo boat.

Le Morgue

The best sandy beach around without a doubt is Vasto Marina - it stretches for miles and is very popular with holiday makers. Please pay attention to beautiful old palazzos on the main road of Vasto Marina.

Abruzzo has 15 ski resorts with 368 km of runs in 172 different ski tracks.

The nearest resort is just 35 min drive away, it is small place called Pizzoferrato with two lifts, but plenty of country skiing possibilities! See details on

The most popular resorts are Roccaraso, Campo Felice, Campo Imperatore. Located on the highest altitudes of the Apennines, these ski areas are at heights nearly comparable to many resorts in the Alps. Because of their proximity to the Adriatic and winter precipitation patterns, they often have more snow than the Alps. Abruzzo also is popular for cross country skiing, especially on the high plain of Campo Imperatore in the Gran Sasso as well as the Piana Grande in the Majella. The nearest one is Roccaraso about 50 minutes away, popular with Italian tourists and is third largest Italy's ski resort.

The nearest gold course is about 40 minutes away from the house by car.

The Miglianico Golf Club is situated in the heart of the Abruzzi region, in the province of Chieti, on the Miglianico hills at approximately 125 metres above the sea level. The club is located in a strategic position, five kilometres far from the beautiful costs of Francavilla al Mare and Ortona and forty kilometres far from the mount Majella 2793 metres above the sea level.
Sixty hectares in the greenery, the Miglianico Golf Club is a place conceived for sporty and dynamic families. A wonderful oasis of green surrounded by woods and vineyards with a wonderful view of hills and mountains.
A Course for amateurs and professionals
The Miglianico Golf Club houses, above all, contests for amateurs. The contests organized by the Club in the course of each sport season are approximately 50.But one of the main characterisics of the course is that, it is also open to non-members or tourists who want to keep on practicing their favourite sport during their holidays.
The Course

The Course has been designed by one of the most famous architects, Ronald Kirby. The technical characteristics of the Miglianico Golf Club, by accounts of all players whether professionals or amateurs frequenting it, are of remarkable interest considering the “personality” of the whole Course.
The Course both technically and aesthetically sets out on canonical 18 holes (par 72 length 6100 meters) curling along woods, vineyards and artificial bunkers. The holes, by accounts of both professionals and amateurs, are difficult, from a technical point of view, but also enjoyable.
